As Republican outrage swirls over freshman Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib calling President Trump a “motherf–ker,” a Democratic activist unearthed a video of Trump using the same word — and more — during a speech in 2011.
“Listen, you motherf–kers — we’re gonna tax you 25 percent,” Trump said in the Las Vegas speech, suggesting that’s what he would say to China if he were in charge, according to the video, posted on Twitter by Scott Dworkin, founder of the Democratic Coalition Against Trump.
According to a contemporary account in Mother Jones in April 2011, Trump used a series of f-bombs — to the crowd’s delight — during a speech on politics.
Though not an official candidate at the time, Trump’s name was frequently mentioned as a possible candidate as far back as 2000 — and he was actively pushing the birther conspiracy theory about President Barack Obama at the time.
In the speech, Trump ripped lawmakers, describing them as “bloodsuckers,” and slammed Obama.
“We have weak, pathetic leadership. Our leaders are stupid, they are stupid people,” Trump said of the Obama administration, the magazine reported.
Trump also talked about US military and nation-building tactics abroad.
“We build a school, we build a road, they blow up the school, we build another school, we build another road, they blow them up, we build again, in the meantime we can’t get a fucking school in Brooklyn,” he said.
Turing to OPEC and oil prices, Trump declared: “We have nobody in Washington that sits back and said, ‘You’re not going to raise that fucking price.’”
Tlaib, a Palestinian-American, made the comment during a celebration with activists Thursday night.
On Friday, she refused to back down.
