During his speech about the opioid crisis, President Trump invoked his brother who died of alcoholism and said he “learned because of Fred.”

The president, ​speaking at the White House where he announced the opioid scourge a national public health emergency, said ​his older brother’s struggle with alcoholism is​ the reason he doesn’t drink.

He recalled his brother as a “great guy, best looking guy,” with a personality “much better than mine​.​” ​But “he had a problem, he had a problem with alcohol. I learned because of Fred.”

Because of Fred Jr., Trump said he believes a​ “really big”​ anti-drug use advertising campaign could be effective.

“If we can teach young people, and people generally, not to start, it’s really, really easy not to take ​them,” he said.

Trump’s brother died in 1981. He was 43.​
