President Trump knocked Democratic front-runner Joe Biden after the former vice president apologized for working with senators with segregationist views early in his career.
“Sleepy Joe Biden just admitted he worked with segregationists and separately, has already been very plain about the fact that he will be substantially raising everyone’s taxes if he becomes president,” Trump posted on Twitter Sunday.
“Ridiculously, all Democrats want to substantially raise taxes!”
Biden has taken heat, especially from Sen. Kamala Harris during last month’s Democratic debate, for recalling a time in the Senate when “there was some civility” and he worked with Sens. James Eastland of Mississippi and Herman Talmadge of Georgia.
“Was I wrong a few weeks ago?” Biden said in a speech Saturday in Sumter, S.C. “Yes, I was. I regret it, and I’m sorry for any of the pain of misconception that caused anybody.”
“Everything they stood for offended me. They represented everything that I ran against,” he said.
