President Trump on Tuesday announced his five finalists to replace national security adviser John Bolton.

The president, talking to reporters on Air Force One during a fundraising trip to California, said he narrowed the list down to Robert O’Brien, Ric Waddell, Lisa E. Gordon-Hagerty, Fred Fleitz and Keith Kellogg, who is Vice President Mike Pence’s national security adviser.

Trump praised Kellogg, saying “he’s been with me from the beginning. He’s great.” ​

He called O’Brien “fantastic” and said he likes Waddell “a lot.”

Waddell is an assistant to the president and a deputy national security adviser, O’Brien is the special presidential envoy for hostage affairs, Fleitz is CEO of the Center for Security Policy and a former chief of staff for the National Security Council, and Gordon-Hagerty is the undersecretary for nuclear security at the Energy Department.

Trump fired Bolton, his third national security adviser, in a tweet last Tuesday and said he would announce his replacement this week.
