President Trump made a surprise appearance at the White House briefing room Thursday, congratulating newly elected House Speaker Nancy Pelosi but also making another pitch for his long-promised border wall.

“You can call it a wall, you can call it a barrier, you can call it whatever you want,” Trump said, but the country needs it.

Trump said he had “never had this much support” on an issue, and brought members of the border patrol to the White House to tout the importance of border security.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced that the surprise briefing would take place at 4:10 p.m. just three minutes earlier. It then began about 15 minutes later.
