Mamdani's chief of staff Elle Bisgaard-Church, who was in the room with the mayor-elect and Trump, said the closed-door Oval Office meeting lasted about 45 minutes.

“It was a very productive meeting, and I think we were excited and grateful for how long we were given to have a discussion with the president," she told The Post.

“We focused on the affordability agenda and the campaign and long shot win and talked about some common areas, including building housing, even talked about the EULER process and utility costs, food and grocery costs, and a mutual desire to make sure that New York City is a place where all working people can live and have a good life," Bisgaard-Church said.

She said Trump specifically perked up when talking about building housing.

“The president felt very interested in a kind of common sense approach to reduce onerous burdens on the housing and development owners, actually," the top Mamdani aide said, "And he was interested in that. And an area of real agreement for how we can make government work better to actually achieve our shared goals.”

President Trump said he would feel at ease living in New York City under Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani after their chummy Oval Office meeting Friday.

"Yeah, I would, especially after the meeting. Absolutely," Trump told reporters when asked, "Would you feel comfortable living in New York City under Mamdani administration?"

The president said he and the democratic socialist pol "agree on a lot more than I would have thought."

"I want him to do a great job, and we'll help him do a great job," Trump said. "I would feel very, very comfortable being in New York, and I think much more so after the meeting."

President Trump said he doesn't think Zohran Mamdani is a "jihadist" -- a claim that has been repeated by his ally Rep. Elise Stefanik.

A reporter asked Trump if he believed Mamdani -- who stood beside him behind the desk in the Oval Office -- was a jihadist like Stefanik contends.

Trump dismissed Stefanik's words as coming from her GOP gubernatorial bid.

"I met with a man who's a very rational person," he said. "I met with a man who really wants to see New York be great again."

President Trump gave the young socialist more praise for his pick of Jessica Tisch as a "great" police commissioner as he wrapped up their Oval Office meeting.

"He just retained a great Police Commissioner," Trump said. 

“She good friend of some of the people in my family, of Ivanka," the president added. "They say she’s really good, really competent, and he just retained her. So that’s a good sign."

Trump praised Mamdani's campaign in New York City and congratulated him on his ability to win "easily."

Trump wished him success in leading the city and expressed confidence that the two would work together in the future.

"He's different than your typical guy," Trump said, adding Mamdani "has a chance to really do something great for New York."

Trump said people are so excited about his meeting with Mamdani because the mayor-elect is "different than your average candidate."

He admirably recalled Mamdani's rise in polls and his stunning Democratic primary win.

President Trump told reporters that one day he would "love" to be mayor of New York City one day.

"Being the mayor of New York City is a big deal," Trump said.

"I always said, 'you know, one of the things I would love to be someday as the mayor of New York City,' 

"Especially now, because I think you're at a really a turning point, one way the other. It can go great, or it can go in a different direction," said the leader of the free world and native Queens man.

A seemingly impressed President Trump praised Zohran Mamdani's push to build more housing in New York City.

Trump, a former real estate mogul, said he shares Mamdani's views on housing.

"He wants to see housing being built, he wants to see rents coming down, all things that I agree with," he said. "Now, we may disagree how we get there -- the rent coming down.

"I think one of the things I really gleaned very, very much today, he'd like to see it come down, ideally by building a lot of additional housing. That's the ultimate way. He agrees with that, and so do I."

President Trump said he wants to be "a big help" to incoming Mayor Zohran Mamdani, instead of trying to hinder the young socialist administration as his way to help New York City.

"I expect to be helping him, not hurting him, a big help because I want New York City to be great," Trump said, heaping praise on Mamdani.

Trump lauded Mamdani's commitment to decrease crime and build more housing across the five boroughs as he plans to address the affordability crisis.

President Trump said he and New York City Mayor Elect Zohran Mamdani agreed on quite a few issues during their Oval Office meeting, including on keeping the Big Apple safe.

"People would be shocked, but I want to see the same thing," Trump said.

President Trump bizarrely gave Zohran Mamdani cover with the press when pushed if he was walking back his attack on the president, calling him a "fascist."

"I've spoken about," Mamdani started to answer before Trump interjected.

"That's ok," Trump said, appearing to give him the OK to stand by his statements.

"You can just say yes. It's easier than explaining," the president added.

The Oval Office love-fest between the two pols comes after months of vitriolic attacks on each other.

President Trump said he didn't discuss Zohran Mamdani's vow to promise Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he steps foot in New York City.

Trump instead focused generally on Mamdani's views and said he believed they could change.

"He's got views out there, but who knows maybe we're going to see what works, or he's going to change," he said. Also, we all change. I change a lot. Changed a lot from when I first came to office."
