President Trump flew to Texas to check on the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey — and marveled at the size of the crowd as a few hundred people greeted him outside a Corpus Christi firehouse.
“What a crowd, what a turnout,” he said, emerging from the Annaville Fire House, where he had been meeting Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and other Texas officials.
Trump climbed up on a ladder and, using a microphone, praised the people gathered there.
“Thank you,” he said to applause. “We love you, you are special, we are here to take care of you. It’s going well.”
“It’s historic. It’s epic. But I tell you, it happened in Texas and Texas can handle anything.”
He then held up the Texas flag to loud cheers.
