Donald Trump says House Speaker Paul Ryan is not being “more supportive” of his presidential candidacy because he might want to run for president himself in 2020

Asked whether Ryan was hurting or helping him, Trump said, “Well, I don’t want to be knocking Paul Ryan. I think he could be more supportive to the Republican nominee.”

“We are doing well. I think we are gonna win the election,” Trump said in an interview with ABC that aired Tuesday.

Asked directly whether he believed Ryan wanted him to win the November presidential election, Trump said, “Well, maybe not, because maybe he wants to run in four years or maybe he doesn’t know how to win.”

Outside his Wisconsin rally Monday night, Trump took another swipe at the House speaker.

“Maybe just doesn’t know how to win. I mean, who can really know? But I know I’m in his territory and they are all screaming for Trump.”

Ryan represents a Wisconsin district in the House of Representatives.

“The head of the [state] Republican Party just left me. He shook my hand. He says, ‘You are gonna win Wisconsin.’ And I know one thing, we are gonna do very well here,” Trump added at the rally.
