WASHINGTON – President Trump confirmed Thursday that he planned to nominate former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain to serve on the Federal Reserve board.
Cain came to political prominence in 2012 when he ran for the GOP nomination for president, but his campaign tanked over sexual harassment allegations.
“He’s a highly respected man, he’s a friend of mine. He’s somebody who gets it and I hope everything goes well,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “But Herman Cain is a really great guy.”
Axios broke the story that Cain was Trump’s pick, as long as his vetting went well.
