President elect Donald Trump promised “insurance for everybody” during an interview published on Sunday in the midst of a contentious battle in Congress over the repeal of Obamacare.

Trump claimed to be putting the finishing touches on his replacement to the Affordable Care Act but told The Washington Post that the details would come in due time.

“It’s very much formulated down to the final strokes,” Trump told the paper. “We haven’t put it in quite yet but we’re going to be doing it soon,”

Pointing to a campaign pledge to not have people “dying on the street,” Trump stressed that those who need health insurance will be “beautifully covered.”

“What I do want is to be able to take care of people,” he told the paper.

The president elect said he would unveil the plan alongside House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and warned them not to get “cold feet.”

“We’re going to have insurance for everybody,” Trump said.

“There was a philosophy in some circles that if you can’t pay for it, you don’t get it. That’s not going to happen with us.”

Congress has already begun a complex process to repeal the healthcare act passed by Obama in 2010.

A replacement bill has not yet been introduced.

The ACA program extended health coverage to about 20 million people but has been nagged by problems, including a steep rise in premiums for some.
