President Trump’s lawyers reportedly have advised him to decline an interview with special counsel Robert Mueller.
They fear his habit of making exaggerated statements could land him in hot water, The New York Times reported Monday, citing four sources.
Trump has said publicly he’s willing to be grilled by Mueller as part of the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
If Trump refuses to meet with Mueller or his investigators, it could spark a showdown over whether the commander in chief is required to talk.
