President Trump has chosen State Department official Heather Nauert to serve as the next US ambassador to the United Nations, a report said on Thursday.

Nauert would replace current ambassador Nikki Haley, who plans to leave her post at the end of the year, according to Bloomberg News.

She had served as the State Department spokesman and was promoted in March to acting under secretary of state for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs.

Nauert was formerly a co-host on morning cable news show “Fox & Friends” as well as a correspondent for CBS News.
