President Trump said “it never ends” in reaction to news that special counsel Robert Mueller would appear before two House committees next month to testify about his Russia investigation.
“Well, my reaction is that it never ends,” Trump said Wednesday on Fox Business.
He went on to reiterate that “we had no obstruction, we had no collusion,” adding that “it’s hard to have obstruction when you have no crime.”
The president also cast doubt on the independent makeup of Mueller’s team of prosecutors.
“We had a report that was you know considering 18 people that hated Donald Trump, you had Mueller obviously, was — not a Trump fan,” he said.
House Democrats announced late Tuesday that Mueller would testify before the House Judiciary Committee and the House Intelligence Committee on July 17.
In his report, released publicly in April, Mueller said he did not find evidence that the Trump campaign conspired with the Russians during the 2016 election.
But he pointed out that he did not exonerate Trump from obstructing justice and noted 10 instances in which Trump tried to derail the investigation.
