Only hours after finally comdemning racists, President Trump on Monday night retweeted a post by an infamous alt-right provocateur with ties to white nationalist Richard Spencer.
“Meanwhile: 39 shootings in Chicago this weekend, 9 deaths. No national media outrage. Why is that?” read the tweet from provocateur Jack Posobiec.
Posobiec has been an ally of Spencer, a white supremacist who led Friday’s racist march in Charlottesville, Va.
Posobiec and Spencer have joined forces in the past by leading a march for Trump’s now-embattled political strategist, Steve Bannon.
The two also held rallies in Washington, DC, to protest “jokes” about violence to Trump after Kathy Griffin posted an image of Trump’s severed head. Griffin apologized for the stunt.
The rallies were separate, however, and Spencer has recently criticized Posobiec.
The retweet by Trump comes after after a woman was killed during a white power rally in Charlottesville on Saturday.
Trump had come under fire after he initially blamed “many sides” for Saturday’s violence.
On Monday, he called out the KKK and white supremacists — but appeared to regret it shortly after.
“Made additional remarks on Charlottesville and realize once again that the #Fake News Media will never be satisfied…truly bad people!” he tweeted around 6:30 p.m.
