President Trump redoubled his denial of allegations he insulted America’s war dead with a slam on the “slimeball” journalist who reported it.

“You work so hard for the military … and then a slimeball reporter, maybe working with disgruntled people, makes up such a horrible charge,” he complained in a Saturday tweet.

He compared the uproar over the report to past “scams” like the Steele dossier that launched the Russia collusion investigation — and noted pointedly the late Sen. John McCain, a longtime foe, “pushed hard” to publicize Steele’s allegations.

Trump’s public disdain for McCain was mentioned repeatedly in an Atlantic report, published Thursday, in which anonymous sources said the president called Americans killed in World War I “suckers” during a 2018 visit to France.

“The Radical Far Left is VICIOUS, they will do or say anything to win,” Trump added.
