WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump said Friday he would “most likely” be tested for coronavirus “fairly soon” after having contact with several people who self-quarantined or tested positive for the virus.

“I think I will be,” he said at a Rose Garden news conference in which he declared a national emergency over the crisis.

“Fairly soon, we’re working on that, we’re working out a schedule,” he said, adding that it was not a result of his potential exposure “but because I think I will do it anyway.”

Trump was near a Brazilian official who tested positive after visiting the president’s Mar-a-Lago resort last weekend and was also in contact with several GOP lawmakers who were under self-quarantine before being tested and found to be negative.

The president repeated that he does not have any coronavirus symptoms.
