Shortly after Harvey Weinstein was hit with a slew of sexual misconduct charges, President Trump on Friday said he is “not familiar with the case, but it’s too bad.”
“I don’t know anything about it,” Trump told reporters at the White House before boarding Marine One on his way to the US Naval Academy graduation ceremony in Annapolis, Md.
Pressed by another reporter, Trump added: “I’m not familiar with the case, but it’s really too bad, really too bad.”
The pervy producer was seen all over the airwaves early Friday as he surrendered to face rape and sex abuse charges in Manhattan.
In October, when dozens of women leveled accusations against Weinstein, the president told reporters: “I’ve known Harvey Weinstein for a long time, I’m not at all surprised to see it.”
Trump’s presidential campaign was sent into turmoil by the release of a 2005 “Access Hollywood” tape in October 2016 in which he was heard boasting of grabbing women by their genitals.
“And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything … Grab them by the p—-. You can do anything,” he was heard saying.
During Trump’s campaign, at least 15 women made allegations against him ranging from sexual harassment and sexual assault to lewd behavior.
Trump apologized for the vulgar comments, which he also had dismissed as “locker room banter.”
He also slammed his accusers and vowed to sue them after the election, though he never did.
“Every woman lied when they came forward to hurt my campaign,” he declared during an October 2016 rally. “Total fabrication. The events never happened. Never.”
