President Trump said the supreme leader of Iran Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei has agreed to the peace deal, including its provision that Tehran cannot have a nuclear weapon.
“They will not have a nuclear weapon, they’ve agreed to that,” he said. “They will not only not have, they will not purchase, develop in any way, any shape, in any way, shape, or form a nuclear weapon. They will not have a nuclear weapon.”

REUTERSThe president has been adamant that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, leaving it as a make or break condition in the talks. Tehran had pushed back, claiming their nuclear program was for energy purposes but Trump has been insistent it must end.
There have been several starts and stops on the road to a deal but Trump expressed confidence Iran would sign on because “they got hit very hard.”
They want to sign it as much as I do, or more, I would say they want to sign it more, maybe a lot more,” he noted.
The president announced the deal earlier Thursday in a post on social media, saying he was canceling an attack he had planned for later in the day on Iran.

The critical Strait of Hormuz will open as soon as the deal is signed.
The strait is a major cargo shipping lane between the Middle East and Europe. Iran has seen its food prices rise with the strait shut off.

The national average for regular gasoline is $4.13 per gallon.
The final details of the agreement are being worked out and the signing ceremony will take place in the next few days, maybe in Europe.
Vice President JD Vance will do the actual signing, perhaps as early as this weekend.
