Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump said Thursday there’s a “40 percent” chance he’ll tap a former primary rival as his No. 2 going into November’s likely face-off against Hillary Clinton.

Trump said one of the 16 Republicans he vanquished in the primaries could be his vice presidential running mate.

“I would say probably a 40 percent chance within the group,” Trump told CNBC’s “Squawk Box.” “I’ve gotten to be friends with a lot of those people and I guess enemies with a couple.”

He added: “I would say there’s a good 40 percent chance.”

Trump appeared to shy away from at least one former rival — Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

“Well, I’ve had a good relationship with him,” Trump said, “(but) I would say probably it’s unlikely that it’ll be John … I’m not sure John even wants it (the VP nomination).”
