President Trump has scheduled a Tuesday phone call with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

A senior administration official said the two would likely discuss the war in Syria, where Moscow backs the government of dictator Bashar al-Assad and the United States supports the rebels trying to overthrow him.

Trump and Putin have spoken twice before since the election, including last month following a terrorist attack in St. Petersburg, Putin’s hometown.

Trump said last month that US-Russian relations “may be at an all-time low.” It was a reversal from the rhetoric during his campaign, when he praised the strongman.

FBI and congressional investigations continue into the Trump campaign’s contacts with Russia.
