President Trump on Thursday knocked the special counsel’s Russia probe as a “disgrace,” continuing his relentless assault on Robert Mueller a day after he floated pardoning his former campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

“Did you ever see an investigation more in search of a crime? At the same time Mueller and the Angry Democrats aren’t even looking at the atrocious, and perhaps subversive, crimes that were committed by Crooked Hillary Clinton and the Democrats. A total disgrace!,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

He continued to build on the theme that Mueller is ignoring possible crimes committed by Democrats while claiming that the investigation is out of control and being used to harass him and members of his administration.

On Wednesday, Trump compared Mueller’s investigation to Republican Sen. Joe McCarthy’s hunt to discover Communists in the US government in the 1950s.

“While the disgusting Fake News is doing everything within their power not to report it that way, at least 3 major players are intimating that the Angry Mueller Gang of Dems is viciously telling witnesses to lie about facts & they will get relief. This is our Joseph McCarthy Era!,” he posted on his Twitter account.

He also retweeted an image of a number of Democrats — including former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama — behind bars along with his own deputy attorney general, Rod Rosenstein.

In an Oval Office interview with The Post, Trump explained why he’s angry with Rosenstein.

“He should have never picked a special counsel,” the president said.

Trump also told The Post that a pardon for Manafort could still happen.

“It was never discussed, but I wouldn’t take it off the table. Why would I take it off the table?” the president said.

Mueller ditched a plea agreement Manafort signed in September, saying in court papers Monday that Manafort lied to investigators “on a variety of subject matters.”

Manafort’s lawyer also briefed Trump’s legal team about the Mueller investigation while the plea deal was in place, the New York Times reported Tuesday.
