President Trump credited his economic policies for revitalizing a US Steel mill in Illinois during a fiery speech Thursday on trade policy.

“US Steel is back! US Steel is back!” the president told a cheering crowd of workers at the Granite City Works east of St. Louis.

The factory is restarting a second blast furnace, which is expected to be online by October, and increase the number of workers by 50 percent, from about 1,000 to 1,500.

Trump credited his 25 percent tariff on imported steel for the factory’s expansion.

“We are starting to live by two very important rules. Buy American, and hire American,” he said.

The commander in chief again lashed out at the “fake news” — but crowed that there were more cameras in the room for him than ever were present for Presidents Barack Obama or George W. Bush.

Trump also told the assembled steelworkers that “I could be one of you. I could be one of you!” to more cheers.

“I know you’re proud to work for a company where the steel is mined and made in America,” he continued.

When he asked the crowd, “How’m I doing?” workers responded with a raucous cheer.
