President Trump took a rare shot at Fox News on Thursday, griping about a new poll from his favorite network showing that 52 percent of voters disapprove of the job he is doing, while 46 percent approve.

“Frankly, Fox has always given me a bad poll. I don’t know why that is,” Trump told Fox News host Harris Faulkner during an interview. But that poll’s 46 percent approval rating was a few points higher than other surveys in the past week.

His approval has barely budged all year in Fox polls, staying within the range of 43 to 47 percent. In October, he had a 47 percent approval rating.

Trump said the overwhelming amount of negative news coverage of his administration was responsible for his low poll numbers.

“The news and the polls are fake. I have the greatest base in history,” he said.
