President Trump tweeted Wednesday that “talking is not the answer” when it comes to dealing with tensions with North Korea — and claimed the US has been paying the country “extortion money.”

“The U.S. has been talking to North Korea, and paying them extortion money, for 25 years. Talking is not the answer!” the president wrote around 8:45 a.m.

His latest response comes after North Korea fired a ballistic missile Tuesday from Pyongyang toward Japan – which wound up landing in the Pacific Ocean.

Trump then warned in a tweet that “all options are on the table.”

On Wednesday, the US Missile Defense Agency said a US warship successfully detected and shot down a medium-range ballistic missile test off Hawaii.
