President Trump teased Tuesday that he will make a “very, very big announcement” that will be “earth-shattering” before he jets off next week on a highly anticipated visit to the Middle East.
“We’re going to have a very, very big announcement to make, like as big as it gets,” Trump said during an Oval Office meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. “And I won’t tell you on what … and it’s very positive.”
“It’ll be one of the most important announcements that have been made in many years about a certain subject, very important subject. So you’ll all be here.”
Trump met with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney ahead of his trip to the Middle East. APCarney played along, telling the president when invited to speak that he was “on the edge of my seat.”
Trump, 78, will travel to Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates May 13-16 — and suggested he could make the announcement Thursday, Friday or Monday ahead of his departure.
