WASHINGTON – The White House has confirmed that President Trump will sign the 9/11 Victim Compensation Act bill Monday, surrounded by more than 200 individuals directly affected by the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.
The event will be the culmination of a 15-year effort to get Congress to pass legislation that would permanently maintain a fund that gives payouts to first-responders and other victims who have been sickened by environmental pollution from the attacks.
The Senate — in a vote of 97-2 — passed the legislation Tuesday.
The president will invite first-responders, survivors and family members to the White House for the bill signing, a spokesman told The Post.
Sources originally said the bill signing would be held Friday.
