President Trump is making the Venezuela crisis — and his goal of boxing China and Russia out of the Western hemisphere — his top agenda items at an intimate dinner with Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro Saturday night.
“There is an opportunity for this to be the first fully free and democratic hemisphere in human history,” a senior administration official said Saturday. “It’s part of the Trump Doctrine.”
First daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner, both top White House advisers, are joining the two leaders at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
Bolsonaro will visit the US Southern Command in Miami Sunday, where he and US Navy Admiral Craig Faller are set to sign a defense-cooperation agreement.
