President Trump dragged Joe Biden Friday after the former veep’s well-received speech at the IBEW’s annual convention in the capital — insisting that members would vote for him in 2020.
“I’ve employed thousands of Electrical Workers. They will be voting for me!” Trump tweeted en route to his visit to the southern border later in the day.
The 750,000-member IBEW endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2016, with union president Lonnie Stephensen, who greeted Biden on Friday, lavishing her with praise.
“The choice America faces this November is now clear. As senator, Hillary Clinton has stood with us and the labor movement more than 90 percent of the time, from opposing right-to-work laws to supporting federal project labor agreements,” he said then.
Biden got a rousing reception at the electrical workers union convention, during which he focused on economic issues facing the working and middle class.
He also took a shot at Trump.
“President Trump is a tragedy in two acts,” Biden said, alluding to his personal attacks, such as calling Rep. Adam Schiff a “pencil neck.”
“What in the hell is happening? Our children are listening. He’s so consumed with personal grievances, so obsessed with the past.”
