President Trump ended his tumultuous week by picking yet another fight with Andrew Cuomo on Friday, accusing the New York governor of being bad for business.
“We have in New York a governor, Gov. Cuomo, (who) sues everybody. You go into that state, you get sued. That’s why people don’t want to move in,” Trump told supporters in Columbus, Ohio.
“For that and fact that it’s the highest taxes. If you go to New York you get sued. And people are afraid to go to New York. They don’t want to go.”
The president renewed attacks on Cuomo’s lead-balloon comment last week that America “was never that great.”
The governor was trying to mock Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again,” but failed miserably.
“He recently stated the new slogan was ‘America was never great.’ Now, he was so angry at me,” Trump said.
“You know, he hates me – truly hates me. He used to like me. Then I decided to run for office and he doesn’t like me too much.
“He was so angered because (of) ‘Make America Great Again.’ And he just said ‘Ohh!,'” continued Trump, doing an impersonation of Cuomo grumbling.
“’America’s never going to be great again,’ And that was it. He walks off. And everyone says, what?! He was talking to socialists and they were going, ‘Whoa! Whoa!’”
Trump hit the midterm campaign trail in hopes of revving up GOP partisans and turning the page on a remarkably tough week for the White House.
Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort was convicted of tax fraud and his personal attorney Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations – that he claims were under the direction of Trump.
