President-elect Donald Trump wants more nukes — and he wants them to be more powerful.

Trump called for the build-up of America’s nuclear arsenal in a Thursday morning tweet.

“The United States must greatly strengthen and expand its nuclear capability until such time as the world comes to its senses regarding nukes,” Trump’s 140-character policy statement said.

His comments appeared to come in response to comments made earlier by Russian strongman Vladimir Putin.

“We need to strengthen the military potential of strategic nuclear forces, especially with missile complexes that can reliably penetrate any existing and prospective missile defense systems,” the Russian leader said at a defense meeting in Moscow, according to the Washington Post.

It’s estimated that the United States has 5,000 warheads, while Russia has 5,400.
