WASHINGTON – Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price said President Trump was just joking last week when he threatened to fire him in front of tens of thousands of Boy Scouts.

“Oh … it was a humorous comment that the president made,” Price said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.”

At a huge Boy Scout jamboree in West Virginia on Monday, Trump railed against ObamaCare and said Price had “better” deliver the votes in Congress to repeal the law.

“He better get them,” Trump said in a raucous speech. “Oh, he better. Otherwise I’ll say, “Tom, you’re fired!”

The crowd erupted in cheers.

The still-employed Price explained Trump’s comments as a sign of how deeply he cares about repealing the healthcare plan.

“I think what it highlighted is the seriousness with which he takes this issue. He understands that the American people are hurting because of Obama C are,” Price said.

The head of the Boy Scouts apologized Thursday to anyone who was offended by Trump’s politically charged speech.
