The walls are coming down in San Diego — but not because Democrats tried to block the funding.

Eight 30-foot-tall prototype border walls that President Trump visited among great fanfare last March will soon be toppled, say US Customs and Border Protection officials.

The sample partitions, which cost between $300,000 and $500,000 each, will make way for a new 14-mile, 18-foot-tall secondary barrier between San Diego, Calif., and Tijuana, Mexico, in an area that’s already fenced, but regularly breached, anyway.

Six contractors built the samples—four of solid concrete and four using a combination of metal slats and concrete slabs—in late 2017.
