Sweeping changes to the tax code being contemplated by President Trump and House Republicans could cost New Yorkers $17.5 billion, according to Gov. Cuomo’s office.
State officials say they’re worried that the revised tax code would eliminate or scale back state and local tax deductions on the federal return — hammering New York taxpayers, who account for 13.2 percent of all such deductions nationwide.
