Donald Trump’s son-in-law hailed Bridgegate mastermind David Wildstein as a “badass” — citing “the move you pulled” — one day after Wildstein quit the Port Authority amid the firestorm over the traffic-clogging scheme, a lawyer claimed in court Thursday.
Speaking on Day 5 of Wildstein’s testimony in the Bridgegate trial, defense attorney Michael Baldassare produced a 2013 email that Jared Kushner, husband of Trump’s daughter Ivanka, allegedly wrote to Wildstein.
The email’s contents weren’t revealed, but the transcript of a sidebar shows Baldassare telling the Newark federal judge how Kushner gushed over Wildstein.
Baldassare said he wanted jurors to see the email — which had been ruled inadmissible — because it “follows up” on Wildstein’s testimony that “he was hoping to be part of a White House administration or something down the road.”
“We know who Jared Kushner is,” Baldassare said.
He said the email suggests Wildstein “made some admissions” to Kushner.
“The truth is, Judge, this is what this man thrives for. People like that calling him a badass,” Baldassare said.
Kushner’s email was sent Dec. 7, 2013, about 18 months before Trump announced his candidacy for president.
Wildstein was to resume testifying Friday against former PA exec Bill Baroni and Bridget Anne Kelly, a former aide to Gov. Chris Christie.
Kushner didn’t return requests for comment.
