The rogue Twitter worker who deleted President Trump’s account for 11 minutes was a contractor — not a full-time company employee, sources told The New York Times on Friday.

The company earlier blamed the incident on a customer support worker, who has been hailed as a hero for silencing the prolific tweeter-in-chief, albeit briefly.

“My Twitter account was taken down for 11 minutes by a rogue employee,” Trump acknowledged in his first Friday tweet. “I guess the word must finally be getting out-and having an impact.”

Two people who have been briefed on the matter and told The Times about the culprit’s position at the company spoke on the condition of anonymity because the details are confidential.
