Kobe Bryant was remembered at the start of the US Senate impeachment hearing Monday.

“As millions mourn the deaths of Kobe and Gianna Bryant and those who died with them, we think about life’s brevity, uncertainty and legacy,” Senate chaplain Barry Black said in his opening prayer of the session, referring to the NBA legend and his 13-year-old daughter, both of whom were among nine people killed in a California chopper crash Sunday.

“Remind us that we all have a limited time on Earth to leave the world better than we found it,” Black said, according to CNN.

“As this impeachment process unfolds, give our senators the desire to make the most of their time on Earth. Teach them how to live, O God, and lead them along the path of honesty.”

President Trump is on trial for allegedly abusing his power by withholding federal aid to Ukraine in exchange for the country opening a probe into political rival Joe Biden.
