Trade talks between the US and China wrapped up in Beijing on Friday, with negotiations planned to continue next week in DC — and both Presidents Trump and Xi Jinping sounded optimistic about striking a new trade deal.
“We’re going to make billions of dollars with this trade deal. It’s going to be great for our country and great for China, I hope. I want it to be good for China, and
I want it to be good for the United States,” Trump said Friday.
Trump also boasted of a warm relationship with President Xi.
“It’s going extremely well. Who knows what that means, because it only matters if we get it done. But we’re very much working very closely with China and President Xi, who I respect a lot. Very good relationship that we have,” he said.
