The White House quickly corrected itself Wednesday morning when a spokeswoman said she’s expecting a “low-key day” while President Trump spends the Thanksgiving holiday at his Mar-a-Lago resort, coming back minutes later to explain the president “will NOT have a low-key day.”

Spokeswoman Lindsay Walters briefed reporters covering Trump and said the president had been briefed on the Navy plane crash and plans to make phone calls this week to promote the GOP-backed tax reform plan, but it will be a “low-key day.”

Minutes later, the White House issued a clarification, saying that while the press pool will have a “low-key day,” the president will “NOT have a low-key day and has a full schedule of meetings and phone calls.”

Then 90 minutes later, the press pool reported that the president’s motorcade arrived at the Trump International Golf Club, less than five miles away from the resort in West Palm Beach where it was 81 degrees with a slight breeze.
Aides did not say whether Trump hit the links.

Five hours later, Trump’s convoy left the golf club.

The White House’s earlier amended message was consistent with a tweet Trump posted earlier in the morning when he said he would be working during the holiday break at his private resort in Florida.

”Will be having meetings and working the phones from the Winter White House in Florida (Mar-a-Lago). Stock Market hit new Record High yesterday – $5.5 trillion gain since E. Many companies coming back to the U.S. Military building up and getting very strong,” he wrote on Twitter.

The president also offered “prayers for all involved” after a Navy plane crashed off the coast of Japan on Wednesday.

Eleven people were aboard and eight have been rescued and are in “good condition.”

“The @USNavy is conducting search and rescue following aircraft crash. We are monitoring the situation. Prayers for all involved,” Trump tweeted.
