President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will meet one-on-one for 20 minutes Wednesday in their initial encounter during the two-day summit in Vietnam, according to the White House.
The sit-down between the two leaders will take place at the Sofitel Legend Metropole in Hanoi from 6:40 to 7 p.m. local time. Hanoi is 12 hours ahead of Eastern Time.
Trump and Kim will then attend a dinner together from 7 to 8:35 p.m. at the hotel, accompanied by two guests and their interpreters.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney are expected to join Trump at the event.
More meetings are expected Thursday between Trump and Kim, but an official schedule has yet to be released.
Earlier Wednesday, Trump will meet with Vietnamese President Nguyen Phu Thong and sign trade agreements between the two countries at the Presidential Palace.
Later, Trump will travel to the Government Hall to meet with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
The two will also share a working lunch.
The Hanoi summit is the second face-to-face meeting between Trump and Kim.
They met last June in Singapore.
