The foreign minister of Yemen wants a “reassessment” of a US raid that resulted in the death of a number of civilians and a Navy SEAL, but denied his country has asked for a halt to American ground operations.

“Yemen continues to cooperate with the United States and continues to abide by all the agreements,” said Abdul-Malik al-Mekhlafi on Wednesday, adding that it “is involved in talks with the US administration on the latest raid.”

He called reports that Yemen demanded a suspension of US military operations there “not true.”

The raid against an al Qaeda compound in Yemen on Jan. 28 killed a number of civilians — including the 8-year-old daughter of US-born Islamic cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, who was killed in a 2011 drone strike.

Chief Petty Officer William “Ryan” Owens, a member of SEAL Team 6, was also killed in the raid. Six US soldiers were wounded.
