A California serial prankster was charged with involuntary manslaughter for reporting a fake hostage situation to Kansas cops — who killed an innocent man when they responded.

Tyler Barriss, 25, is in jail for the death of Andrew Finch, 28, who was killed after cops showed up at his door to respond to a false report that he had shot his father and was holding two other people hostage in a Witchita home.

The unarmed Finch, a father of two, walked out of his door to find his home surrounded by police. He was shot after he allegedly put his hands near his waist, police have said.

The call stemmed from an argument between two “Call of Duty” players. One of the players allegedly asked Barriss to “swat” the other player, but gave him Finch’s address instead.

Barriss, who is being held in Sedgewick County Jail, claimed in his first on-camera interview Friday he was remorseful.

“I never intended for anyone to get shot and killed,” he told Kansas television station KWCH 12.

A lawyer for Finch’s family told KSN they hold the police officer who pulled the trigger responsible.
