Orangutans and macaques may both be primates, but that doesn’t mean they have any interest in being friends.

That was on full display at the Gunung Leuser National Park in Sumatra, Indonesia last month when a young orangutan found itself going head-to-head with long-tailed macaque.

The orangutan was all set to chow down on a delicious banana at one of the park’s many feeding platforms, when the other primate showed up looking to steal its meal. The youngster wasn’t about to back down and put up its dukes before participating in some old-fashioned grappling with the macaque.

While the orangutan had little problem fighting off its opponent, it does still need help from handlers at the park. Once kept as a pet, the now-free animal requires the occasional handout here and there.
