Prince William joined his father Saturday in a surprise visit to the thousands of mourners waiting to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth II.
The royals shook hands and thanked those who had braved the long lines stretching along the Thames River outside Westminster Hall where the queen is lying in state.
Earlier, William and his father, King Charles III, paid a visit to the Metropolitan Police central control room to thank emergency service workers for their work and support ahead of the queen’s funeral on Monday.
The king shook hands with the new police commissioner Sir Mark Rowley, the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and the new Home Secretary Suella Braverman.
Officials said that the queues to visit the queen lying in state had fallen to 14 hours, from 24 hours overnight, according to a report.
