The Massachusetts McDonald’s manager seen licking French fries and spitting in the carton in a vile viral video served them to her ex-girlfriend — and the unsuspecting victim ate the tained taters, prosecutors alleged Monday.
Kaylie Santos, 22, had been working as a night manager at the Southbridge McDonald’s before she was fired and charged with distributing food with a harmful substance over the April incident, MassLive reported.
Kaylie Santos, 22, was revealed Monday as a manager at the Southbridge McDonald’s who was seen on video licking fries.
She could face up to five years in jail if convicted.
The customer who received the order was confirmed to be Santos’ ex-girlfriend, after cops tracked her down through her license plate, according to authorities.
Santos filmed herself licking an order of fries – then handing it out a drive-thru window in the April 9 clip, which was posted to Snapchat and Facebook.
Surveillance video from the McDonald’s outside Worcester also showed her spitting in the fry box, prosecutors said.
“When your girlfriend want French fries today right… she wants French fries today right,” Santos was heard saying in the nasty clip.
She was charged with distributing food with a harmful substance over the April incident, MassLive reported.
Santos’ ex sought to press charges after learning what had happened.
She hadn’t even ordered fries the night of the incident, but “didn’t think much of it” when she was passed the order and ate them anyway, a police report from the incident read, according to Boston 25 News.
“It is quite evident that Santos not only spit in the French fries container before adding fries into it, Santos also placed several French fries in her mouth and then placed those fries in the same container,” the report alleged, citing surveillance footage from the restaurant.
“Santos then proceeded to serve the contaminated French fry carton with her spit, and the French fries that had been in her mouth to a customer,” it added.
“She and Santos had dated for approximately two years,” the report continued. “Santos was mad because she is now dating someone else and has been harassing her and her new partner.”
Santos’ position as a manager made the alleged behavior especially egregious, prosecutors note.
She was fired after the footage went viral, along with another employee seen in the clip.
It does not appear that any other customers recieved contaminated food, according to police.
The franchise owners previously denounced the behavior.
“The actions of these individuals are unacceptable and do not reflect our organization’s food safety standards or values. We conducted an internal review, and they are no longer employed by our organization,” the Spadea and Balducci families said in a statement.
“We are proactively working with local authorities and the local health department, who found no public health concerns or violations,” they added. “The wellbeing and safety of our Southbridge community remains our top priority.”
