In a chaotic end of a second day marked by flight disruptions, protesters clashed with riot police at Hong Kong’s airport late Tuesday — as paramedics evacuated a man accused of being an undercover cop, according to reports.

The man, who appeared to lose consciousness, was earlier surrounded by chanting protesters who refused to allow medical workers to remove him before police arrived, CNN reported.

A female protester broke ranks and desperately tried to help the paramedics get through amid worries that the man was going to die.

“This is a disaster,” she shouted at another protester, according to the news network.

A 35-year-old protester named Max said, “Hong Kong people are in a very, very dangerous moment, some things in front of you may look crazy but we have no choice.”

The former British colony was plunged deeper into turmoil Tuesday as the pro-democracy demonstrators filled the airport terminals, forcing the cancellation of departing flights.

The protesters also barricaded some passageways at the airport with luggage trolleys and other objects.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights urged Hong Kong to exercise restraint and investigate its forces possibly firing tear gas in ways banned under international law.

“Take a minute to look at our city, our home,” said the territory’s chief executive, Carrie Lam, her voice cracking, during a news conference in the government headquarters complex. “Can we bear to push it into the abyss and see it smashed to pieces?”
