The security detail for EPA head Scott Pruitt broke through a glass door at the Capital Hill condo where he was staying last year because they thought he was in danger, it was revealed on Friday.

Pruitt’s security were under the impression that he was unconscious and unresponsive during the incident in March of 2017, according to ABC News, but the EPA chief was just sleeping.

After bursting into Pruitt’s bedroom, the rescue party found him waking from a nap.

It was unclear what led to the panic that required such an excessive response. A police report was never filed, ABC said.

The EPA eventually reimbursed the owner for the broken door.

The misguided rescue attempt came to light as it was reported that Pruitt had paid just $50 a night to crash in the same condo, which is co-owned by the wife of a lobbyist with clients regulated by Pruitt’s agency.

The disclosure also follows criticism over Pruitt’s reliance on first-class flights that cost taxpayers $120,249.
