Move over iPhone 12, a pair of vintage Apple sneakers have stolen the spotlight – and sold for almost $10,000.
Apple aficionados awaiting the next iPhone — whose rollout could reportedly be delayed amid the coronavirus pandemic — turned their sights on the athletic footwear that the company designed exclusively for its employees in the 1990s, Gizmodo reported.
Heritage Auctions put the size-9 1/2 sneakers — emblazoned with the classic Apple rainbow logo — under the hammer as part of a collection of “Urban Art Signature Auction” pieces.
Despite a little wear and tear, the “Apple Computer Sneakers” were otherwise in excellent condition and sold for $9,687 after receiving 20 bids.
