Former NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly said Sunday that Belgium was an easy target for last week’s deadly terror attacks because the country never had a “wake-up call” like the United States did on 9/11.
“Unfortunately, they have to play catch-up ball,” Kelly said in an interview on John Catsimatidis’ AM 970 radio show. “I think [Belgium] never really received a wake-up call as we did, as far as 9/11 is concerned.”
Meanwhile, NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence John Miller slammed Ted Cruz for the Republican candidate’s call for a police crackdown in Muslim neighborhoods.
“Campaigning through fear and using that as leverage . . . that’s not the direction American policing should be taking in a democracy,” Miller said Sunday on CBS.
