A Texas congressman fell 12 feet while working around his home, fracturing parts of his lower back, officials said.
Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, a Democrat representing Texas’ 15th Congressional District, fell Thursday while working on an unspecified task at his McAllen home, the lawmaker’s office announced Monday.
Gonzales was rushed to a hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.
He has since returned home, where doctors have ordered him to undergo four to six weeks of bed rest, press secretary Jason Johnson said.
“Congressman Gonzalez will continue working from home,” Johnson said. “He will make a statement in the near future on what transpired.”
Gonzalez, who joined Congress in 2017, is serving in his second term in the US House.
