Democratic Rep. Nancy Pelosi has received support for the House minority leader position from an unlikely source.

In a back-handed endorsement, the National Republican Congressional Committee announced they were backing Pelosi for House minority leader.

Pelosi has served for 12 years at the Democrat’s leader and announced Tuesday she would seek the position again.

“Under Nancy Pelosi’s leadership, House Democrats squandered their majority by forcing through unpopular legislation like Obamacare, of which Pelosi famously told us, ‘We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it,'” the NRCC said in a statement.

The Republican committee commended Pelosi, who backed Hillary Clinton, as the “world’s worst election prognosticator.”

“No single person deserves more credit for House Republicans’ historic majority than Nancy Pelosi,” said NRCC Communications Director Katie Martin. “Under Nancy Pelosi’s leadership, House Democrats have become completely irrelevant, and there is no better way to ensure that remains the case than by keeping her as Minority Leader. The NRCC offers its full support to Nancy Pelosi as she attempts to fend off this challenge to her failed leadership from within the ranks of her own party.”

While Pelosi received an “endorsement” from political rivals, there has been griping among her Democratic colleagues about her seeking the leadership role. Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan announced plans Thursday to challenge Pelosi.

“What we are doing right now is not working,” Ryan said in a statement. “Under our current leadership, Democrats have been reduced to our smallest congressional minority since 1929. This should indicate to all of us that keeping our leadership team completely unchanged will simply lead to more disappointment in future elections.”
